Step into a Healthier Morning with our Park & Stride Scheme!

At Yorkswood Primary School, we are always looking for ways to boost our community's health, safety, and happiness. That is why we are thrilled to promote our Park & Stride initiative, brought to you in partnership with Solihull Council.

Why Choose Park & Stride?

Park & Stride is a simple scheme that gives our pupils the opportunity to walk, talk, and have fun with their friends on the way to school. You can walk all the way from home, or choose to park a little further away from the school in one of our designated parking spots—such as Babbs Mill Park—and walk just part of the way. It is an easy way to add exercise into your family's daily routine.

The Incredible Benefits:

  • A Massive Energy Boost: Exercise first thing in the morning sets children up perfectly for the day, providing a big energy boost for school.
  • Quality Family Time: Walking together gives parents and carers an excellent opportunity to spend some quality time with their children, entirely without the distraction of driving.
  • Cleaner Air & Safer Gates: By parking further away, we help keep our school gates clear and safe while making ourselves and the planet a bit healthier. Did you know that sitting in your car in traffic can actually expose you to more pollution than walking by a busy road?
  • Vital Road Safety Skills: Walking to school provides a perfect chance for your child to learn the importance of road safety under your safe guidance. The earlier they learn, the better their understanding will be as they get older and begin to travel independently.
  • Small Steps, Huge Distance: Making a big difference can start with small steps. Walking just 500m to and from school adds up to an amazing 5km a week!

How to Get Started

Simply follow the walking route map on the back of the school leaflet, and look out for the 5-minute walk radius markers around our local area.
