Our Vision and Values: We A.S.P.I.R.E. to Reach Our Potential

This year, we reflected on our core mission and what truly makes Yorkswood Primary School a special place to learn and grow. While our previous values laid a strong foundation, we wanted our new ethos to directly reflect every child's individual journey and provide a memorable, action-oriented framework.

We chose our new values because they represent the holistic development of our children—moving beyond just academic achievement to focus on character, resilience, and community. To capture this renewed vision, we have adopted a powerful new tagline:

"Every child who walks through our doors carries infinite potential; together, we ASPIRE to reach it".

To help our children reach that potential, we have introduced our A.S.P.I.R.E. core values. These values act as our daily guide for behaviour, learning, and how we treat one another:

• A = Ambition ("I reach for the stars.")

  Ambition means having a "go for it" attitude. It’s about setting goals, working hard to get better at things, and not being afraid to try something new, even if it feels a little tricky at first.

• S = Support ("I lift others up.")

  Support is all about kindness and inclusion. It means looking out for your friends, helping someone who is stuck, and making sure nobody ever feels left out. We are a team, and we help each other win.

• P = Perseverance ("I keep trying, even when I find it challenging.")

  Perseverance means we try our best and keep pushing forward, even when things are difficult.

• I = Integrity ("I do the right thing, even when no one is watching.")

  Integrity means being honest and true to yourself. If you make a mistake, you own up to it. It’s about being a person that teachers and friends can always trust to do the right thing.

• R = Respect ("I treat others the way I want to be treated.")

  Respect means being polite to everyone and taking care of our school. It’s about listening when others speak and celebrating the fact that everyone is different and special in their own way.

• E = Enjoyment ("I love to learn and play.")

  Enjoyment means finding the fun in school! It’s about being curious, laughing with friends, and discovering things that make you go "Wow!". When we enjoy what we do, we learn even better.

By embedding these A.S.P.I.R.E. values into everything we do, we are creating a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant environment where every student is empowered to succeed.
